In November, the Government launched its consultation on proposals for the local system to fund supported and sheltered housing. It is open for 12 weeks until 13th February 2017 and seeks views on the government’s plans for a new housing cost funding model for supported housing.
The consultation explores some of the key issues and principles underpinning the proposed new system. This will help inform a more detailed funding model, which the Government has indicated will be published as a Green Paper in Spring 2017.
The consultation covers:
- Local roles and responsibilities
- Fair access to funding
- Arrangements to provide oversight and assurance
- The appropriate balance between local flexibility and stability
- Developing a funding model for short term accommodation, which will include hostels and refuges?
This is a great opportunity for the sector to shape some of these early proposals to make sure that the more detailed model is fit for purpose. As part of NHC’s member engagement activity, we invite members to a FREE roundtable to discuss the consultation and questions within. This is your chance to make your views and thoughts on how the local system should work known and to consider the impact of the new model across your business and tenants.
