The NHC invites our members in the Yorkshire and Humber region to a free member roundtable to help formulate a collective response to the Government’s Social Housing Green Paper.
The Northern Housing Consortium (NHC) would like to invite NHC members to a series of roundtables to help shape the NHC’s response to the Government’s Social Housing Green Paper ‘A new deal for social housing’. The green paper represents a huge opportunity for registered providers and local authorities to give detailed feedback to the Government on a range of proposals set out in the paper.
The green paper itself poses over 40 questions on issues ranging from tackling stigma to expanding supply for registered providers to respond to. The NHC believes it is important that a strong northern response is given to the Government and that the best way to do this is to reach out to our members to guide and direct this response.
Additionally, we will be trialling a consultation webinar so that those unable to make it to a session in person will still have the opportunity to give their thoughts and feedback. We are currently formulating how we will run this and details will be available shortly.
We anticipate that the day will begin with a short update on the green paper from Karen Brown, Senior Policy Adviser at the Northern Housing Consortium, followed by a facilitated discussion centring around the five key areas the green paper has focused on which include:
- Tackling stigma and celebrating thriving communities
- Expanding supply and supporting home ownership
- Effective resolution of complaints
- Empowering residents and strengthening the regulator
- Ensuring homes are safe and decent
It is assumed that by registering to attend, you will have some familiarity with the green paper, its themes and questions and will be prepared to share your organisation’s thoughts, feedback and criticism. This session is aimed at senior leaders.
