The Money Advice Service has been working on a collaborative project with the Department of Work & Pensions (DWP) to create the Online Money Manager tool. It has been developed in consultation with Universal Credit claimants, Job Centre work coaches, housing associations and local financial capability groups.
The service provides budgeting support and personalised advice to help Universal Credit claimants manage their income and expenditure. It also includes help and advice on a range of money topics, including opening a bank account, keeping on top of bills and dealing with debt.
The Money Advice Service is an independent organisation, set up by government, to provide free and impartial advice to help people manage their money. They do this directly 24 hours a day via their website and six days a week through webchat and phone. They also work in partnership with other organisations and make their content available for free.
The NHC and the Money Advice Service would like to invite members to a roundtable discussion to explore partnership opportunities between our members and the Money Advice Service.
- The Money Advice Service will demonstrate the tool. They will also highlight additional digital and print content available for NHC members to incorporate into websites and other communication channels, that can help support your tenants.
- Members can discuss the issues that Universal Claimants face, both present and future, in terms of rent arrears and other financial burdens, when moving on to the scheme.
- Members can also share further insights on the support that’s needed.
- Share best practice and learning.
