What role can housing play in a coordinated community response to domestic abuse?
Housing providers are ideally placed to spot and respond to domestic abuse – repairs, rent arrears and reports of anti-social behaviour can all point to domestic abuse.
Led by Gentoo’s Kelly Henderson , co–founder of DAHA and Business Manager – Domestic Abuse, this focused session will invite members to share good practice, talk about the barriers they face and look at key ways in which housing providers can support victims and respond to perpetrators of domestic abuse. The session will also update members on the work of the Domestic Abuse Housing Alliance (DAHA) whose mission is to improve the housing sector response to domestic abuse by:
1. Lobbying Government and the housing sector
2. Accreditation scheme for housing providers
3. Research and disseminating good practice
The session will also highlight recent research findings including those of Kelly’s PhD into the role of housing in a coordinated community response to domestic abuse (views from housing providers, victims and perpetrators of domestic abuse).
**This session is free for NHC members**
