Housing Professionals increasingly find themselves on the front line when it comes to dealing with people with mental health problems. This can be challenging on many levels.
From those presenting challenging behaviour, to those who lack the capacity to make decisions for themselves, making the right decision for the individual – whilst also taking into account their needs as well as statutory and regulatory obligations – is crucial.
This seminar will consider the issues the housing professional needs to take into account in their day-to-day management of people suffering from mental disorders. Using a case study throughout the session, speakers will examine the issues of Capacity, Best Interest Decisions, and the statutory requirements of the Human Rights Act, the Equality Act, and the Care Act. It will also explore how these issues interact with the starting, management, and termination of tenancies, and the taking of legal proceedings.
This is one in a series of three focused legal sessions NHC is running in conjunction with Ward Hadaway; our remaining session is Representing Your Organisation in Court.
**Sessions are £49 members/£79 non members.**
